A new video has gone live featuring voices from across the research-based biopharmaceutical industry describing responses at the company level to the COVID-19 emergency in Ireland.
The montage video is a response to a call by IPHA to the industry asking companies to share practical examples of how they are helping to fight COVID-19.
The self-generated video footage comes from the frontline of the industry, featuring 16 leading research-based companies.
In science, manufacturing and the supply chain, and through partnership work with the Government, hospitals and charities, the biopharmaceutical industry is making a big difference.
Bernard Mallee, IPHA’s Director of Communications and Advocacy, said it was the industry’s priority to be constructive at this time of national and global crisis. “We wanted to share a story, voiced by people on the frontline of the industry, about efforts by so many companies to play their part in the fight against COVID-19. That could be by keeping manufacturing going, by ensuring the integrity of the supply chain, by helping out a local charity or patient advocacy group, by supplying resources to a local hospital, or by making scientific expertise or medicines available in the search for a vaccine and a treatment. While the country stays apart at this time of crisis, the industry Is coming together, in Ireland and around the world, to help the fight against COVID-19. We have tried to capture just some of their efforts in the montage.”
In framing the response to the pandemic, Ireland’s biopharmaceutical industry has focused on five key areas:
In addition, we are closely monitoring the industry’s response to the pandemic in Europe and globally, advising the Government and the health authorities about how Ireland fits into the broader context.
